Biography:
I am the wife and homemaker of David Mills, the duck callmaker of the family. I always loved to draw and paint. Naturally, when David started making and carving duck calls, I got interested and honed in on his hobby. Along with making his own calls, he makes blanks for me to carve or burn, whatever the wood seems to call for. It may be dogs, ducks, people, boots, guns, hunting scenes, mountain scenes or any other outdoor scene.
I enjoy seeing people appreciate my work. More than this, I enjoy working with my husband to create the finished product. Not only does he make the blanks for me to carve or burn, but we sit together while he usually is checkering his calls and I am carving on mine. It is a special time of bonding for us; when we get the opportunity to do so.
I do not know how many calls I make in a year; not nearly as many as I would like. I do make custom calls if you have a particular idea in mind. Of course, it takes a long time to carve by hand as I do, so anyone placing a custom order should call in plenty of time before their deadline.
