Jules "Mono" Simoneaux
Biography:
I was born and raised in Rayne, Louisiana and have been duck hunting since I was 12 years old. Because of my love of duck hunting, I have been a Ducks Unlimited Sponsor since 1976.
In the 1970’s, I was working at First National Bank in Crowley and often went on hunting trips with banking associates. We hunted at Lulu Broussard’s camp in the Klondike area. Obrey Trahan, a champion duck caller, was our hunting guide. I was fascinated with the call he used, a Henry Braus call.
Obrey gave me that call and so began my interest in callmaking.
After leaving the banking business, I opened a hardware store in 1986 and I am still there today.
I am teaching my son to make calls in hopes that the art of callmaking will be preserved.
