Biography:

I was born in 1933 in Monroe, Louisiana, and spent most of my adult life in Jonesville, Louisiana. After 30 years of oilfield work, I retired in 1987, and finally had time for serious duck hunting. Before retirement I hunted several times with Levi (J.L.) Melancon, who was a big influence on my callmaking, which began in 1982. Levi taught me how to bend a metal reed, and “If you don’t get the bend just right, you haven’t got much”. I later purchased a Turpin metal reed cutter from Levi to assist me in cutting my metal reeds. This technique enabled me to make calls patterning the late Tom Turpin calls, dating back to the 1920’s.

I am very proud of the sound of my calls and believe that tuning is very important. Once you hear my calls, you might agree that I “Put a duck in every call”. This call will do everything a duck call should do and is very dependable. The phosphor-bronze reed will not stick and cannot be blown out of tune. There is no way to keep a duck call dry so I tune each call wet. They actually sound better when wet. The call I hunt with, the last twenty years, has blown at least a million times and has never been retuned and has the original reed. Phosphor-bronze is the best reed material available as it has spring steel in it and vibrates very well. I believe in the saying “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. My calls aren’t broke!
GOOD HUNTING!!!
